Robert A. Kleps, Ph.D.Title: Director of Research Service FacilityFacilities: NMRL
University of Chicago, B.S., Biochemistry Dr. Kleps directs the NMR Laboratory which performs direct and inverse detected,1D and 2D experiments for H-1 and C-13, analyzes tissue metabolites and tissue extracts, runs surface coils and in situ perfusion investigations on animal organs. He has utilized less commonly studied nuclei including N-14, N-15, O-17, F-19, Na-23 and Cl-35 for research studies. In 1999 a ParaVision controlled microimaging accessory was installed. The probe is capable of imaging samples from 2 cc. down to single cells and acquiring localized spectroscopy. Probes having specialized RF coils are also accommodated. Dr. Kleps has collaborated with researchers in Departments of Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Hematology, Medicinal Chemistry, Neurosurgery, Pharmacognosy, Physics, Physiology, Surgery and several outside laboratories. |
