Karen L. Hagen, Ph.D.Title: Director of Research Service FacilityFacilities: FCS Karen had many years of research experience before she became involved with flow cytometry. Most of her early years were spent studying the genetics of serum proteins (including immunoglobulins) in pigs and rabbits. Later, as a research associate, she tested tumor cell fusions for the presence of certain cell surface antigens with flow cytometry. She has been the head of the Research Resources Center Flow Cytometry Service since 1986. She has taught several students how to operate the Coulter EPICS 753 and they have gone on to successful careers as flow cytometer operators. In addition, she has collaborated with and helped many principal investigators and their students with their research projects. As a result, she is a co-author in a number of papers. |
